What Sets Our Approach Apart

Vocabulary First

We start with the words. Understanding terms in a business report is a reading skill, not an advisory one. Our sessions treat it that way — calmly and clearly.

Built for Owner-Operators

These programmes are written for founders managing their own operations — not for finance students. The examples, the pace, and the material all reflect that context.

Strictly Educational

No advisory content, no specific business evaluations. Every session stays within the scope of finance literacy — reading and understanding, not recommending.

Printed Companions

Key programmes include a printed reading companion — a reference you keep after the session. Useful, tangible, and built for regular review between sessions.

Small Group Format

Our reading groups keep cohort sizes small so that conversations remain focused. You get space to ask questions, re-read sections, and engage with the material directly.

Rotating Topics

The Annual Track rotates themes each month — from report formats to agreement vocabulary to reflective reading on entrepreneurship — so attention stays fresh across the year.

Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly does "finance literacy" mean in this context?
Finance literacy, as we use the term, refers to the ability to read and make sense of business financial documents — income summaries, cost breakdowns, agreement clauses — without needing to be a trained accountant. Our programmes focus on vocabulary and reading comprehension, not on advising you about your own finances.
Do I need any accounting background to join?
No prior accounting knowledge is needed. The workshop and reading group are designed for founders who may have never studied finance formally. We begin from the language level and build from there.
Will Riverstone give me advice on my own business finances?
No. All Riverstone programmes are educational. Facilitators work with sample documents and published reading material — not with your personal or business accounts. If you need financial advice, you would need to engage a licensed professional separately.
How are the sessions delivered?
Sessions are held at our Kuala Lumpur space on Jalan Maarof. The workshop runs over two consecutive days. Reading group meetings are biweekly. Annual track sessions are monthly. Session schedules are shared with participants upon enrolment.
What is included in the printed reading companion?
The reading companion is a curated booklet with sample financial document excerpts, a glossary of common terms, and short reading exercises. It is yours to keep and refer back to after the programme ends.
Are the fees inclusive of all materials?
Yes. Programme fees cover facilitator time, session space, and all printed materials where applicable. There are no additional material charges. Prices are in Malaysian Ringgit and inclusive of relevant taxes.
Can I switch from one programme to another?
Many participants begin with the two-day workshop and later join the reading group or annual track. Speak with us when you enquire and we can help you decide which entry point fits your current schedule.
